Can't access existing SQL Server 2012 DB instance on VM

Hi -

I am trying to login to a SQL Server 2012 database on a vm server.  I am an admin on the vm server and can successfully remote in to the server.  When I pull up SQL Server Management Studio, I am presented the login screen, I have the DB server name, but the admin account on the DB engine appears to have been deleted and/or we don't have the correct credentials.  Everything else is fine (installation of .NET, SQL Server, etc) is completely fine on the server, I just want to log in to the DB.  Our IT guys have no clue how to help so we are dead in the water.

I have my own SQL Server DB instance on my local machine, and really what I am trying to do is just move my DB to the server.  So if there is a better way to do this, I am open to trying other (or the correct) avenues.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I have never had to deal with these kinds of setup issues.  I only have experience with SSIS/SSRS and the DB services when they are existing.  Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreicated!

Thanks!

Jenna G
