Hi all,
Whist trying to connect a SQL Server 2012 installation remotely, the following error message is being received.
TITLE: Connect to Server
------------------------------
Cannot connect to <<2012_Instance>>.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -2)
For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft%20SQL%20Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=-2&LinkId=20476

Note:
It has been gathered that we need to configure SQL Server's port on the Firewall's exception. SQL Server 2012 has been installed on Windows Server 2008 R2.
- Is this timeout error message is related to Firewall exception ?
- If so, how to configure the Firewall for SQL Server port exception in Windows Server 2008 R2
Thanks in advance.
