No way to configure SQL Server for remote access.

I have installed SQL Server 2008 R2, before writing here, I have done all steps in order to open remote connection to my sql server. added exceptions to my firewall, enabled TCP/IP, changed to mixed mode, added another sql user with server authentication, rather than windows auth, checked to allow remote connections. But, no luck. I am not able to connect to my sql server.

I am using windows server 2008 R2. Should I change anything on Server Manager along with the changes mentioned above?

I am very frustrated with this case. Because all internet does not tell more than than what I wrote above.

I login to my vps server and open SSMS then enter ip address and login and password, I am able to login in. When I try to login with the same username and password from my own computer I got an error something like this:

TITLE: Connect to Server
------------------------------

Cannot connect to 173.x.x.x

------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
