Linked Server on top of Likned Server

Hi All,

I have a linked server setup on SERVER-A to pull data from our OLTP server using an OLEDB provider and it works fine. The OLEDB provider am using for linked server is only available in 32 bit version so SERVER-A is a 32 bit SQL Server. I have another server, SERVER-B which is 64 bit SQL Server. I have created a linked server from SERVER-B to SERVER-A as SERVER-B is where the data from the original data source is supposed to reside for reporting.

1. Is there a way I can query the OLTP server from SERVER-B via SERVER-A without creating any database on SERVER-A? I am not allowed to create databases on SERVER-A.
2. When creating a linked server from SERVER-B to SERVER-A(both are SQL Servers), can I specify SQL Server authentication under security in Linked Server? If so, what permissions does this account need on SERVER-A.
