After changing authentication from Windows Authentication to SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode, the Login Auditing section under server properties is greyed out. I restarted SQL services, rebooted the server, as well as ran a SQL install repair process on the server. Nothing is enabling the Login Auditing feature to be configured. I changed the server authentication back to Windows only, restarted the instance but it still doesn't work. Tried switching from windows to mixed mode again but it is still greyed out.
This is a SQL 2008R2 server with SP1 and CU5. Everything else on the SQL instance is running fine. I really need to enable auditing of both failed and successful logins so our security standards are followed.
Is there any registry key which could be modified? Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
