Recently we had a SQL Server knowledge transition from one of our client. The client has numerous servers and hence during the transition they missed some of the servers in the inventory. Now we have taken control. But we missed a vital information in one of the server.
We don't know the sa password and we don't have access to one of the production SQL Server. But we are the administrators of that box. The sad thing is we don't know the password of the SQL Server service account as well. The only good thing is we are the local administrator in the windows level.
Now my question is, is there any way to change the SQL Server service account and gain control. Are there any side effects because of this? Any ideas will be helpful
The SQL Server is SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2003 SP2
