Setting: Windows 2008 R2, Sql 2008, SP3. 64GB RAM. Sql Memory usage capped at 40GB for the datawarehouse server.
While processing a large amount of data Sql uses up to its cap of 40GB. Hours after the jobs has ended, and "System Idle Process" is 99%, sql still holds on to this memory. (It hasn't released it.) Is this a bug, a feature, or something we can control?
TIA,
edm2

"78% Used Physical Memory" -- on a machine that is doing "nothing" in the usual sense.
