scripting table creates half then adds half

Something very curious - when I use SSMS to script a table, it gives me a create table with the first 30 or so fields, then set ansi_padding off, then about five alter table add statements, then set ansi_padding on, then about fifteen more alter table add statements, for a total of fifty fields.

Wassup with that?
