Helo,
We sync some of our production transaction tables to a reporting database that is located on the same DB Insance (2008R2) thinking that this setup enhances performance. We assumed that running a report off of this report database impacts production less than running reports off of the original transactional tables. We don't change the report tables, they have the same indexes as production and the same amount of rows.
Can someone comment on our setup? I'm now questioning our original assumption. Why is this any better than running a report on the transactional table when the report tables are on the same DB Instance? Is it worth the extra space and the process of syncing the data (in this setup)?
Thanks in adavance!
Derek
